George Wilhelm, the founder and President of Inspiring Tutors Inc., has lived in 11 different cities on two continents. He has degrees in Psychology and French and an MBA.
George is bilingual in French and English and has a marvelous adopted daughter who is the light of his life. She has attended French elementary and high schools in Ontario since she was four years old, and is now studying interior design in Ottawa.
George has had careers in construction and real estate. But retirement was not an option for George who has always taken to heart Lillian Smith’s belief that “when you stop learning, stop listening, stop looking and asking questions, always new questions, then it is time to die.”
So instead of retiring, George decided to start Inspiring Tutors Inc. to provide parents with the best tutors in order to help assure the academic success of their children. He says that “tutoring my daughter brought out the closet teacher in me.” He says that throughout his life his best friends were often teachers, and that “luckily for me my business background is now allowing me to experience vicariously, via my extraordinary tutors, the daily triumphs of each and every child we assist.”
One of George’s favorite quotes on education comes from the remarkable businessman, Lee Iacocca “In a completely rational society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have.”
George’s favorite pastime is enjoying nature, a pursuit he inherited from his father who took him canoeing, fishing and hunting at an early age. George, enjoys camping, canoe tripping, cross-country skiing and nature walks.
